Drone engineering internship

Drone Engineering Internship

Build a drone from scratch, bring our Agent onboard, and connect its video streams to automated AI workflows. A full-time, onsite internship in Ghent for a minimum of 4 months.

Ghent, Belgium · Onsite, full-timeInternship

The role

Take a drone from an initial design to an integrated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This hands-on internship combines electronics, 3D-printed components, mechanical assembly, and onboard video software in one end-to-end project.

You will install our core product, Kerberos Agent, on the onboard computer to capture video and expose camera streams, then connect that footage to our automated workflows for processing through AI models.

This internship is full-time and onsite at our Ghent office, with a minimum duration of 4 months. It is intended for students pursuing or graduates holding a bachelor's or master's degree in electronics.

What you will work on

  • Design and develop a drone from scratch, selecting compatible electronics, propulsion, flight-control, camera, and onboard-computing components.
  • Design and 3D print the components needed for the drone, then assemble and integrate the mechanical and electronic parts.
  • Bring up and test the assembled UAV, documenting wiring, power requirements, component choices, and safe operating procedures.
  • Install and configure Kerberos Agent on the onboard computer to capture video and expose streams from the drone camera.
  • Connect the video streams and recordings to our automated workflows for processing through AI models.
  • Validate the complete path from camera capture to AI output, and deliver a documented prototype and team demonstration.

You may thrive here if

  • You are pursuing or hold a bachelor's or master's degree in electronics.
  • You can commit to a minimum of 4 months, working full-time onsite in Ghent, Belgium.
  • You enjoy hands-on electronics work and bringing hardware and software together.
  • You are interested in UAVs, 3D printing, embedded computing, and video technology.
  • You work carefully, test assumptions, document your progress, and communicate clearly when you need support.

You do not need to match every point. If the work sounds like a strong fit, tell us what you would bring and where you want to grow.

Helpful experience

  • CAD modelling, 3D printing, or mechanical prototyping
  • Electronics assembly, soldering, sensors, or power systems
  • Drone components, flight controllers, or UAV projects
  • Linux, single-board computers, networking, or Docker
  • Camera streaming, Kerberos Agent, or AI video workflows

Our core principles

Skills differ by role. These are the behaviours we expect from everyone building UUG.AI.

  • 01

    Strong communication

Share context, decisions, and concerns clearly. Ask questions early, listen carefully, and adapt the message to the people involved.

  • 02

    Disciplined and honest

Do what you say, work with care, and be direct about uncertainty or mistakes. We value evidence and transparency over appearances.

  • 03

    Team player and owner

Help the team succeed while taking responsibility for the outcome. Collaborate openly, follow through, and leave the work better than you found it.

What to expect in your first months

The exact pace depends on the role and your experience. We use these steps to align on support, ownership, and useful outcomes.

  1. 01

    Design the system

Agree on a practical UAV design, component selection, safety constraints, and milestones with the team.

  2. 02

    Build and integrate

3D print and assemble the drone components, test the electronics, and bring up the onboard camera and Kerberos Agent.

  3. 03

    Demonstrate the full workflow

Show video moving from the drone through Agent into an automated AI workflow, with a documented setup the team can reproduce.

A practical conversation, both ways.

We want you to understand the work, the team, and our expectations before making a decision.

  1. 01

    Application

Send your CV or profile and a short note about relevant work.

  2. 02

    Intro conversation

Discuss what you are looking for and get context on UUG.AI and the role.

  3. 03

    Practical deep dive

Complete a focused take-home exercise, then present and discuss your approach with the team in person at our Ghent office.

  4. 04

    Team and expectations

Meet future colleagues and align on scope, ways of working, and next steps.
